Family photos are always the most memorable. They move you, make you laugh, and remind you of happy times spent with loved ones. But although they might have lots of sentimental value, they’re not always the most original. Here are some ideas for taking one-of-a-kind family photos.
The old-timey portrait
Back in the days of our grandparents or great-grandparents, family photos were a much more serious matter. Everyone had their place: Parents sitting straight in their chairs, young children on their knees, and older children standing to the side, looking proud. Try to reproduce this orderly tableau, making sure everyone puts on their most serious face. For an even more realistic effect, take the photo in black-and-white or add a sepia filter.
Same photo, 10 years later!
Re-take your favourite old family photos by getting every detail just right: Same place, same poses, same clothes, same framing, and same lighting. Manage to recreate the scene to look just like back then, and the result will blow you away!
Silhouettes
Get Mom, Dad and the kids together for a classic family photo. Now comes the original part: Print out an extra-large copy of the photo and cut out each family member’s silhouette. Frame each one separately, then hang them together on the wall to recreate the original setup.
Team family
Whether you’re three, four, five or even more, you’ll make a great team. To get your hearts pumping, have parents and kids jump in the air at the same time or get in a silly pose that makes it look like you’re moving fast.
