Giving a special someone a personalized photo calendar is original, thoughtful and practical! It’s an easy gift to create thanks to Jean Coutu’s photo printing service. Before you get started, have you thought of everything?
1
Select your size
The first step is to determine the size of your calendar. Will it have a photo for every week or every two weeks? Will it be a classic calendar or a desktop calendar? The possibilities are endless and will determine the size and number of photos that you’ll need. Check out the online calendar and agenda section to find inspiration.
Tip: If you opt for a poster-size calendar, you’ll need to pick a high-resolution photo so that once it’s printed, it doesn’t look too pixelated.
2
Choose a theme
Before even choosing the photos, you should have a pretty good idea of the theme you’re going to go for. Will you have the months in chronological order, and decorate each of them with one or several photos reflecting the season? You could also apply a specific theme (holidays, children’s portraits, cooking, gardening, sports, animals, etc.) to every page. This is your chance to share your interests or some magical family memories.
3
Select your photos
Now that you know how many photos you’ll need and have chosen a theme, the easiest thing to do is gather all the images into one file, while making sure there are no duplicates. Organize them according to the order that you have decided on and add tags so you can easily identify them if you decide to change the layout at the last second.
4
Choose a background and cover
Choose your cover photo with care, as it must perfectly represent the entire calendar! As for the background, there’s nothing stopping you from using other photos to fill that space. It could be a beach scene, lace from your wedding dress, etc. The important thing is that the background doesn’t outshine the other photos on the page.
5
Add a personal touch
It’s time to turn your attention to the details: pick borders, images, and decorations that will add a unique touch to your creation. Why not add a few memorable quotes here and there? Philosophical musings, funny sayings, personalized quotes: let your imagination run free.
