A first in Canada
Longueuil, June 25, 2010 –The Jean Coutu Group (PJC) Inc. has launched the first application in Canada allowing the refilling of prescriptions from a smart phone without going through a mobile website. Designed for iPhones and iPods Touch, the Jean Coutu APP offers the user the possibility of having his prescriptions or those of a family member refilled in a few easy steps.
The user creates his own profile, selects his favourite pharmacy, enters the number of the prescription he wishes to have refilled, selects the time he will pick up his medication at the pharmacy and then forwards all information to his pharmacist. Registered and secured over the phone, the personal information provided by the user is protected by a password and this data is used for prescription refill purposes only.
“We are very proud to add this new function to our Jean Coutu application. In cooperation with Tactio Software, we have created a state-of-the-art iPhone application that allows our customers to have their prescriptions refilled at any time. More and more people use a smart phone so it had become important to position ourselves at the technological forefront and so remain a leader in our sector,” said Alain Lafortune, Senior Vice-president Purchasing and marketing at the Jean Coutu Group.
The Jean Coutu application helps the customer to locate the five PJC Jean Coutu pharmacies closest to his home, select his favourite pharmacy, determine the location of pharmacies on a map, play the Jean Coutu jingle by pressing the PJC logo on the welcoming page, check the balance of his Jean Coutu gift card and register his AIR MILES® collector’s number for convenience purposes
