Start by brushing your eyebrows, which will not only tame them but also define their shape and reveal the sparser areas. It only takes a moment of your time and it’s well worth it!
Next, apply short dashes of pencil, following the direction of the hair growth. This is key to keeping them natural looking. Even in areas that are sparser, remember that you’re not colouring them in.
The same principle applies to the shape. Never fill in the underside and don’t extend beyond the tips except oh-so-slightly in an upward direction, which gives them a more assertive look.
For the final step (before any small retouches, of course), give them another brushing, which will smooth out the colour and pencil lines.
A quick tip: don’t brush your eyebrows in one direction only. Backcomb the first third of each eyebrow to hide any obvious outlines.
As for the colour, find a shade that closely matches your eyebrows. The pencil should blend in well with your eyebrows and should never be redder than your natural colour, otherwise you risk a very obvious and disharmonious contrast! Once you’ve found the right shade, you can play with the nuances: a darker colour will create a dramatic effect while a lighter one will look younger and more subtle. It just depends on what look you’re going for and what state of mind you’re in!
