Are you running out of time to refresh your hair's roots and new growth? Here are a few golden rules to help you touch up your colour quickly and easily!
Find the corrector you need
Whether you want to touch up your roots for a special occasion or a way to make your hair colour last longer, the most important thing is to choose the right formula.
- In the first case, corrective products are your best friends: they can be used in the blink of an eye, and slip easily into a handbag for lightning-fast adjustments when needed. What's more, their effect disappears after a wash.
- In the second case, for a longer run, you need a special touch-up permanent hair colour that targets regrowth for faster application than a full colouring. It's important, of course, to choose a shade that's very close to your natural colour or to the colouring you're already wearing. Just remember, however, that because you’re working with fresh roots, the shade will likely be lighter and more vibrant than the rest of your hair.
Dry hair? Opt for ammonia-free colouring products enriched with nourishing agents, to preserve the moisture and health of the hair fiber.
A question of method
There are many products, tools and application techniques for your hair colour, especially if you're using a temporary formula. It's up to you to decide what you're most comfortable with.
Correctors for touching up roots and new growth
Aerosol applicators cover your roots with a fine layer of powdered colour. Simply spray over the areas while holding the can a few inches from your head and you’re good to go!
Here are a few recommended products to do so.
Stick applicators, on the other hand, colour the surface to be concealed, a little like chalk, while sponge applicators dab on the colour.
Here's a recommendation for a stick applicator that might be just the thing.
As for applicators with powder formulas, these are applied with a sponge to your new hair between colourings to hide the new growth until your next shampoo.
Here's an example of this type of product.
Hair colour products for retouching and dyeing
Most permanent colour root retouchers come with a comb-tip applicator. A little like mascara, this method helps you target specific areas so you can apply the colour more evenly.
There are several products available in pharmacies to suit your hair type.
Application tips for your hair colour Before you start your retouching, apply a little petroleum jelly to the top of your forehead, your temples and your ears so you don’t stain your skin.
