Did you know there’s more than one way to apply mascara to get the effect you want? Here are five techniques for different looks, from natural to more daring.
A NATURAL LOOK
Want to try the “no makeup” look for the most natural results possible? Here’s what to do: first, apply a primer to the upper lashes, followed by a single coat of lengthening mascara. To properly cover the lashes, apply the formula from root to tip, and avoid going over the same place twice.
EYES THAT POP
The key to opening up your look? A good eyelash curler. This will give your lashes volume and add depth. Using a metal curler, take the time to carefully curl your lashes before applying the mascara. Then apply your favourite formula to the underside of the upper lashes, from root to tip. For more thickness, add a second coat.
A FALSE LASH EFFECT
Want a super romantic gaze? Look no further! There’s no need to apply false lashes to get an ultra-defined look worthy of a doll. Simply choose a mascara that enhances your natural lashes with a strong boost of volume. Apply it to the top of your upper lashes first, from the root downward, then to the underside with an upward motion. And that’s it—you don’t even need adhesive!
A DRAMATIC LOOK
Have a glamorous evening planned? The key to a delightfully dramatic look is to choose a mascara that both lengthens and adds volume. You can even apply two different formulas if need be. Start by applying a coat of mascara to the top of your lashes, from root to tip. Next, apply a second coat to the underside, zigzagging your stroke from the root upward. For an even more emphatic look, give an extra brush to the lashes at the outside corner of your eye.
A BOLD LOOK
Feel like a change, or simply want an edgier look? Apply a coloured mascara in a shade that contrasts with your eye colour. For a natural yet different effect, you can also opt for two-tone lashes by first applying a brown mascara, then adding a touch of black to the tips. Dare to be bold!
