For eyes
You can either go for a nude or smoky eye look. In the first case, choose a matte or neutral eyeshadow palette (brown, chestnut, beige or taupe) that can be paired with shimmering tones (bronze or coppery gold) in the evening. And for smoky eyes—modernize! Though various shades of black, brown and dark grey will always remain in vogue, the coloured smoky eye is stealing the show this fall. Be it mauve, purple, plum, ochre, green, night blue or currently all the rage khaki—go for a lighter, more subtle look during the day and a darker, more pronounced one in the evening. But what colour to choose? In order to bring out your eyes, your eyeshadow should preferably be of a complementary colour to that of your iris. Meaning that brown, orange, gold and copper will be very flattering for blue eyes, while plum, mauve, bordeaux as well as certain pinkish hues are great for accenting green eyes. And as for brown eyes, while blue suits them to a tee, they can get away with almost anything colour-wise!
For lips
Choose neutral colours when eye makeup is strong. Otherwise, go for dark lip shades this fall. While bright red will always remain a classic, the spotlight will be on all shades of bordeaux, plum and purple. The darker the trendier! Also in vogue is matte lipstick, though shiny counterparts give more elegant results. Those who prefer the natural look can bring out their pout with a tinted gloss or balm. Just remember to choose the right lipstick shade for your complexion. Dark pink shades are perfect for pale skin. In contrast matte skin tones should avoid chestnut and purple and go for brownish and orange shades instead.
