Facial gymnastics is a relaxing ritual for your face and neck that helps tone muscles, while draining and plumping up your skin. Beauty expert Virginie Vandelac would like to lead you in a session. Interested? All you need is some dry oil and a jade roller!
This special technique is used to stimulate blood circulation and tone the muscles in your face, which, in theory, helps sculpt and firm your face, just like gymnastics would for the rest of your body. It’s a natural method that helps restore suppleness and tone to your skin, while accentuating radiance and preventing the premature appearance of aging.
For best results, you should practice facial gymnastics for 10 to 15 minutes a day. There are a couple of types of gymnastics…
Good to know… While facial gymnastics can slow the appearance of wrinkles, it can’t erase existing ones. So, it’s best to start practising it as a preventive measure from about the age of 35 onwards.
1. Apply a dry oil to the areas to be massaged: the roller will slide better, and your skin will get a good dose of nourishing ingredients at the same time.
2. Begin rolling near the base of the neck, then slowly move upwards and outwards, toward the drainage points. Work over your neck, jaw, cheeks, eye area and forehead, using the wide or narrow head of the roller depending on the area.
3. Finish the massage with your fingers. Go over the same areas again, making upward movements to create a "lifting" effect.
Good to know… Keep your roll in the refrigerator between uses and you’ll have even better results fighting signs of fatigue; the cold helps decongest the contour of your eyes.
